The Top 10 Gay Manga

Alan Scott and Northstar weren’t the first. Gay relationships have been part of manga for a extended while, and I’ve we’ve put together the Superior 10 Gay Manga.

Gravitation by Maki Murakami

Gravitation is certainly a staple of yaoi (male/male love) manga. It began in the mid 90s and continued until the early 2000s. It’s spawned a pretty titanic anime and even people who don’t habitually lgbtq+ manga seem to really adore this series. It’s about an aspiring singer named Shuichi Shindou and his band Bad Luck, which he is trying to vault into fame.  One day, Shuichi is working hard on some lyrics for a ballad and they blow into the path of a brooding, tall stranger – who immediately dismisses the lyrics that Shuichi has worked so hard on as utter garbage. Our protaganist is deeply offend , but he is intrigued by the stranger… and that eventually leads to love.

This is a lovely ADD manga. It is VERY classically anime: Explosive nosebleeds, unexplainable random appearances of monsters, lots of hyper yelling, strange tangents, etc. But it has enough of a storyline to keep you riveted even through all of the silliness

Since so many people asked me the BL and GL manga that Gege reads, I decide to add more context to it than just acknowledge it.

  • Mangaka whose operate Gege always find interesting:

Takako Shimura

Tomoko Yamashita (collection of shorts story, The Evening beyond The Tricornered Window)

Yama Wayama (Behind Me, Nikaidou, collected in Captivated, By You)

  • Gege enjoys Shimura's and Yamashita works as they offer an intriguing insight into female perspective. He also compares Wayama to Tatsuki Fujimoto (people Gege admires)

Notes:

  • Shimura and Yamashita well known for LGBT themes on their manga works.
  • Shimura works not only about LGBT but also gender issue.
  • Yamashita works not only BL and GL but also social and female centered story.
  • The Blackout beyond The Tricornered (one of BL manga that Gege reads)
  • Please respect my man, Gege. Not everyday you find a shonen mangaka who concede read those type of works.

If you're looking for a story that features gay characters without creature a romance, this is it. The main characters are a gay couple whose relationship is discussed, but no more than any other aspect of their lives, such as work and friends and growing older. The story focuses on food more than anything else (and does it well!). This manga is also published in a non-BL volume, so it's aimed toward a more general audience. It addresses social issues relating to homosexuality, but with a much more realistic and personal hold than you would locate in most manga.

Manga, 9 vol, 2012 Me:-Author:8

Okay, hear me out on this one. One reviewer describes this as the story of cis characters being made to live through a trans person's experience, which honestly feels incredibly exact. Not only do we see these characters going through the wrong puberty and longing for the experiences of their actual genders, but also living as "out" to some people (and all the additional complications that brings to sexuality and lovey-dovey relationships).
