TOM KEIFER On His Years With CINDERELLA: &#;I Don&#;t Have Any Regrets&#;
CINDERELLA frontman Tom Keifer recently spoke with Jesse Bruce of WMPA's "In The Basement With Jesse Bruce". The five-part conversation can be streamed below. A few excerpts follow (as transcribed by ).
On his new album, "Rise":
Tom: "Stylistically, it's hard rock — blues-inspired hard rock fancy I've always written, compassionate of a straight-ahead, driving rock record with all the same kind of dynamics that I've always had on records that I've been involved with in the past — ballads and acoustic songs, as well as very heavy songs. There's a lot of variety, but it's all in the same style of what I've done for years. I just call it rock music."
On his "#Keiferband" backing band:
Tom: "We include a seven-piece band — two guitars including myself, bass, drums, keyboards, my wife Savannah and Kendra Chantelle sing with the band. We've got six really great singers on stage, so everything's inhabit. That's something that I've always kind of traditionally [done] — not jog tracks or any of that stuff. Carl Thomas Keifer (born January 26, , in Springfield, Pennsylvania) is an American vocalist for the band Cinderella.
Biography
Early life
Keifer grew up in a musical family and began playing guitar at a young age. Keifer soon fell in love with the blues and was heavily influenced by this kind of music.
Keifer joined his first rock band while in junior high school. He soon learned to participate the electric guitar. The young musician struggled with drug and alcohol maltreatment during this time, and considered dropping out of school to pursue a music career. However, his mother Adrienne bribed her son to stay in school by promising him a Gibson Les Paul guitar upon graduation. Keifer graduated and received the coveted instrument. After graduating Keifer played guitar in bands such as Saints in Hell, Telapath, and Diamonds.
Early career
Soon, Keifer subjugated his addictions, and began to focus on a career as a artist. He had started writing original material. He also found financial support by walking race horses at tracks and delivering motion picture to developing outlets. Former Cinderella frontman Tom Keifer was rushed to the hospital last night after apparently succumbing to heat exhaustion and severe dehydration prior to a solo performance in western Pennsylvania.
Early Sunday morning, the year-old Keifier's publicist sent out the following statement: "Tom Keifer was forced to postpone tonight&#x;s performance in Warrendale, PA at Jergel&#x;s Rhythm Grille due to a medical emergency. Keifer was transported to a local hospital where he is stable, and additional facts will be released as soon as it&#x;s available."
UPDATE: Happily, later in the day, a second declaration revealed that Keifer is recovering well and should be able to come back to the road shortly: "Tom Keifer was, regretfully, forced to postpone his performance in Warrendale, PA last night following his collapse prior to the show. Keifer was transported to a local hospital where he underwent tests and was kept overnight. Doctors confirm that Keifer is in stable condition and believe the episode points to heat exhaustion and severe dehydration. Keifer was given fluids, is resting comfortabl
